Artist's Comments

Our illustration homework was to pick a song, and then illustrate something based on the song. I chose the Trans Siberian Orchestra's "Wizards in Winter", as I wanted to do something relating to the holidays.

It's Santa! Or...is it Odin? Or....maybe both? One thing's for sure: this guy isn't going to be caught munching on cookies.

Photoshop painted.

NOTE:
First off, thank you thank you thank you! For choosing this for daily deviation.
Secondly, no, this is not THE Sinterklaas. However, since my Santa is a hodgepodge of several Santa figures of different cultures, I thought it'd be alright if I, uh, stole the name.

This is BEAUTIFUL. Dude. Seriously. Damn. The reindeer and their, er, trappings just blow my mind. Beautiful colour, lovely swirly snow, the ravens are a nice touch, this is just gorgeous.

Judging by the title I thought the picture would have Sinterklaas, the Belgian saint who comes December 6th :lol:
But I really like the colours and movement in this :)

I love the very strong sense of movement you've captured. Really fantastic job with the dynamic poses on the reindeer, and if that's santa, it's the coolest rendition of him ever! ^_^

En nu is het een Belg? Sinterklaas komt altijd nog uit Turkije. En ja, Sinterklaas is een feest dat word gehouden in Belgie en Nederland, maar dat betekend niet dat hij een belg is - evenmin dat hij een Nederlander is. =)
